Pear Sauce (Slow Cooker)

Pear Sauce is amazing served warm, over vanilla ice cream or cooled and mixed into your plain or vanilla yogurt. It can also be substituted in recipes that call for applesauce.

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker

Ingredients
  

  • 4 lbs Bartlett pears, washed, cored and large diced (leave the peel on)
  • 1 lg cinnamon stick, cut into a few pieces
  • ¼ cup sugar

Instructions
 

  • Combine the pears, cinnamon stick and sugar in a slow cooker.
  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for six hours.
  • To make a smooth sauce, puree the fruit using an immersion blender. For a chunkier sauce, just mash it with a potato masher. Serve warm or cool to room temperature and refrigerate for up to two weeks.
