Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4 oz of cream cheese, softened
- 1/8 cup pure maple syrup
- 1-2 tsp maple extract
- 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
- Squirt of honey
- 2-4 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp heavy cream (35% whipping cream)
- Optional: if the frosting is too sweet add 1/2 tsp salt
Directions:
- Using an electric mixer, combine the butter and cream cheese by beating until light and fluffy.
- Add maple syrup, vanilla, maple extract, brown sugar, and honey until the brown sugar is no longer grainy.
- Add powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time, until you are happy with the texture.
- If frosting is too sweet, add salt and beat.
- Add heavy cream and continue to beat until the frosting is fluffy.
- Frost cooled cupcakes and add bacon garnish if making Maple Bacon Cupcakes.
