Toffee Bars

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chocolate chunks)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Cream butter, brown sugar, egg yolk an vanilla until thoroughly combined.
  3. Add the flour and mix well.
  4. Stir in the semisweet chocolate pieces and walnuts (if using).
  5. Pat into an ungreased 15.5′ x 10.5″ shallow baking pan.
  6. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.
  7. Cut into bars while still warm and then cool.
  8. Makes 48 bars.
