Pourable Chocolate Frosting
This pourable chocolate frosting is perfect for icing a cool or warm sheet cake. It can also be used as a drip frosting over a round layer cake.
Ingredients
- 1 stick unsalted butter (¼ lb)
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa (use good quality for best flavor)
- 4 – 6 tbsp heavy cream (35% whipping cream)
- 2 cups powdered icing sugar (packed)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, start melting one stick of butter/margarine.
- Add in cocoa powder and heavy cream and stir.
- Once that is thoroughly mixed, then stir in confectioner’s sugar. At this point I’ll grab a whisk and stir briskly to get all the lumps out.
- Take mixture off heat and add in vanilla extract.
- Once cake comes out of oven, let sit for 5 to 10 minutes to start cooling.
- Pour frosting over warm cake. Do your best to spread it out evenly.
